Flutter is a relatively new app development framework, developed by Google. It allows us to develop high-end apps at lightning speed. A Flutter app is written in "Dart", a programming language inspired by a.o. Java and JavaScript, and works efficiently: fewer lines of code are needed for more functionality. The codebase can be converted to development software that works in both iOS and Android applications. Unlike other cross-platform frameworks, such as React Native, Cordova or Xamarin, the Flutter framework allows us to develop high-performance apps with an ultimate user experience.

An iOS application is written in Swift and an Android app in Java or Kotlin. So if you want your app to work on both platforms, then in this case two apps have to be developed and two codebases need to be maintained. With Flutter it is no longer necessary to build multiple apps! A Flutter app has a single codebase and can then be compiled as an iOS or Android app.
