A developer at work in the Dutch Coding Company office

Dutch Coding Company is a web and app studio in the heart of Brainport Eindhoven. We're looking for an experienced (Laravel) back-end developer who develops solid software together with our clients, and who, as team lead, sets the bar for the quality and way of working of the back-end team.

About the role

As a back-end developer, you and the team are responsible for developing and maintaining digital products that help our clients grow. You work directly with the client and the end user: you advise on technical solutions, keep an eye on the planning and expectations, and take responsibility for what the team delivers.

You're involved in new projects from the very start. Based on the functionality required, you write a project plan, and together with the team you design the technical solution: the API, the data model and the rest of the architecture. We handle a lot of privacy-sensitive data and our clients often depend on what we build, so quality and security come first for you.

The back-end team consists of experienced and passionate Laravel developers. You help them perform at their best, and you can expect direct feedback yourself when that benefits the quality of our work. You also work closely with the rest of the team: app (Flutter) and front-end developers, UI/UX designers and consultants. We ask you to actively think along about how we grow our business and help our clients even better, which is why we share our financial figures and forecasts with you.

Besides the work, we like to have a good time together: city trips, hackathons, parties and board game nights.

What we expect from you

  • You're part of the team and enjoy working together, with people from your own field and beyond.
  • You have a degree in, for example, computer science, or can show in some other way that you can program and know your way around database structures, networking, security and performance.
  • You're strong in PHP 8. We work a lot with Laravel, but if you have experience with another framework (such as Symfony or Drupal), you'll pick up Laravel in no time.
  • You have experience with related technologies, including SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL), APIs, Linux and CI/CD pipelines.
  • You're ambitious, eager to learn and like to work on your professional and personal development.
  • You write high-quality code, fully covered by automated tests, following a modern coding standard (PSR).
  • You have a professional and representative work ethic.

Nice to have

  • You've worked with front-end technologies before, such as TypeScript, Vue or React.
  • You have experience with other back-end languages, such as Node.js or Python, or with other databases, such as Elasticsearch or MongoDB.
  • You have an eye for detail, especially when it comes to user experience and data security.
  • You've worked with many different third-party APIs and libraries.
  • You like working on open source. With us, you can do that during working hours too.
  • You like to be there when the team does something fun.

What you'll get from us

  • A competitive salary between €4,000 and €5,500 gross per month, depending on your experience
  • 26 days of holiday, based on 40 hours
  • An annual development budget of €1,000 for workshops, (international) conferences and books, among other things
  • A good pension scheme
  • Travel allowance (€0.25/km, or a fully reimbursed NS Business Card) or a Swapfiets Deluxe
  • Flexible working hours, with the option to work from home part of the time (although we like to see you at the office too)
  • A free lunch with something for everyone
  • A computer of your choice and the software you like to work with
  • The best city trips and the best parties
  • Fun colleagues (for real). Meet them here.

About Dutch Coding Company

We help ambitious organisations achieve their digital goals. We do that by developing digital products, such as apps and web platforms, that help organisations grow and serve their customers as well as possible. After the first launch, we stay involved with hosting and support.

We're a fast-growing studio in Eindhoven. Our clients are start-ups, corporates and (semi-)government bodies, mainly in health and sport, the energy transition and industry. Our stack consists mostly of Flutter, Laravel and Vue, but we're always up for something new.

As an agency, we think professional and personal development is incredibly important. We work on several short projects at the same time, so you gain experience quickly and we can apply the lessons from a project after just a few weeks. That's how we deliver solid products our clients can build on.
